Farmshare & How to Support Local Business
As the 'shelter in place' order continues to keep us inside in order to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus which causes COVID-19 disease, many of use are rethinking our entire world and the way we do simple tasks like going to the grocery store. It has come to my attention for many helpful individuals, that there are new and exciting farmshare retailers popping up to help provide quality local produce in a safe way to the public. See the following resource below, this is a simple list, and by no means a complete picture of everything available. I'm sure there's much more but here's a start!
Online Produce Retailers:
https://www.savehealthrive.com in particular find their vig box offering
here: https://www.savehealthrive.com/shop?category=Local%20Produce see their website for more details!
http://www.adaptationsaloha.com you can 'sign up' to be a member, place money in your account with them, and they will deliver every other week to Big Island Brewhaus. They will put the box with you name on it on the outside benches and you can go pick up and distance yourself from others. I choose the 'custom box' so I can 'shop' for what I want in my box!
Farmers Markets
Still open is Pukalani Stables Farmers Market, they have removed all the picnic benches, you may not 'hang out' but you can still go grab vegetables and fruit, and some to go meals. It's a great vibe, every vendor wears a mask for safety, and their are strict instructions like 'do not touch' any veg unless you plan to buy it...so as not to spread germs. Wed. & Sat. 8am-12:30pm
The old Parker Farmers Market vendors have changed location (some of them) on Saturdays they are found down Mana Road, turn left at the fork in the road or just follow the signs. Same protocol as the Pukalani Market, wear a mask and keep to social distancing guidelines. Grab and go food, fruit and veg available. There's plenty of parking in the field or on the road it's well spaced out. 8am -12:30pm
Farm Fresh Vegetables at Honopua Farm Saturdays 8-11am at 64-693 Aina Alanui, Kamuela, hi 96743 in Mana Road area follow the signs on Saturdays
